The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the 16th edition of the T20 league on Friday (February 17). The tournament is set to begin on March 31, 2023 with a match between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, the summit will be played on May 28

The next day on April 1 will be a double header followed by a clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals after the first day’s match with Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Rajasthan Royals in the first match of the season on April 2 and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Mumbai Indians in the first match of the season on the same day.
The 16th season of the marquee event will begin on March 31, 2023 and will feature a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, BCCI said in a statement.
It has also been revealed that a total of 70 league games will be played in the 16th edition of IPL. There will be total twelve venues during the tournament Mohali, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dharamshala, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur and Guwahati will be the host cities for IPL 2023. The tournament will return to the old format where All participating teams will play seven away games followed by seven home games.
Like last year, the ten teams are divided into two groups of five teams each. In Group A, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are in Group A, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are in Group B.
